EL CUARTO DE LOS OJOS SUCIOS

"The Room of Dirty Eyes" is a mediation and curatorial project specializing in contemporary painting, organized by art historian, professor, curator, and art critic Sandra Sánchez, and painter, professor, and art critic Eric Valencia. In each session a painter is invited to present a live artwork for discussion with the audience.

The selection of the artwork to be exhibited is determined collaboratively between the artist and the curators. From july to december 6 sessions (one artist per session) will take place.

Each session is divided into four moments. In the first moment, the audience takes 20 minutes to observe, absorb, and contemplate the painting. In the second moment, the painter speaks for half an hour about the production process of their artwork, as well as the artistic and social issues it addresses. In the third moment, the curators initiate a conversation based on four specific pre-prepared questions, two directed to the artist and two to the audience. In the fourth moment, a discussion begins with the audience.
